HIV/AIDS support

Improving health and well-being in communities.

NSSF staff, led by our Corporation Secretary, Agnes Isharaza (3rd L) together with officials from Baylor Uganda lighting candles in remembrance of those who lost their lives due to AIDS

In line with our community interventions agenda, the Fund supported Baylor Uganda’s outreach programme with UGX12 million for the purchase of motorcycles on World AIDS Day.

The objective of this initiative was to ease the delivery of medicines to the beneficiaries’ doorsteps promptly. The donation was also intended to help fight the stigma of this disease and the apprehension of attending routine hospital visits due to fears of being shunned by the community.

Our support of HIV/AIDS interventions, formalised in our HIV/AIDS Work Place Policy and partnerships with various entities such as Baylor College, Uganda Aids Commission and the Ministry of Health, are deliberate efforts to make a difference in the lives of those affected.

Our Corporation Secretary, Agnes Isharaza ® hands over a dummy cheque worth UGX 12M to officials from Baylor Uganda on World Aids Day

  • We will continue to make an effort to reach out and make a difference through:
    • Invalidity Benefit: We have exercised a provision to pay out benefits to members who have lost their earning capacity due to illnesses as a result of physical or mental incapacitation as certified by a medical doctor. This includes payouts to members who have contracted HIV/AIDS and are unemployed
    • Financial Literacy programme: We run a Financial Literacy Programme to empower members and the public with financial and investment knowledge to enable them to make informed financial decisions
  • We are committed to providing customised financial literacy sessions for those infected and affected by the AIDS scourge to help improve their incomes and to better manage their finances

Increasing access to education

Improving learning environments and increasing access to education.

Pioneer Primary School is one of the beneficiary Schools we renovated to give the pupils a better learning environment

The Fund has an education intervention initiative that is aimed at improving the learning conditions in various public and upcountry schools that are in dire need of help.

As part of its Corporate Social Investment agenda, the Fund realised that there are many dilapidated schools in urban and rural areas and, as such, partnered with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and other corporate institutions to collect funds for improving the learning environment of children.

Over the last five years, the Fund has made tremendous progress in the education sector by providing funds to renovate dilapidated school structures in selected public schools. So far, eight schools have benefited from this initiative, which is in line with the Fund’s commitment to secure a better life for all Ugandans from a tender age.

Last year, we embarked on a deliberate strategy to renovate four upcountry schools. Among these are Pioneer Primary School in Soroti; Mutolere Primary School in Kisoro; Adwari Primary School in Otuke district; and St. Paul Primary School, Nsambya in Kampala.
